Did You Know? What the Numbers on Your Glasses Mean

When you get a new pair of glasses, have you ever noticed a small set of three numbers printed on the inside of the temple arm, near the nose pad, or at the temple tip?

Those numbers actually tell you the size of your eyeglass frame — and they matter more than you might think!

The three numbers represent:

  • Lens width
  • Bridge width (distance between the lenses)
  • Temple length

All measured in millimeters (mm).

Knowing these numbers helps you find frames that fit your face perfectly — especially useful when shopping for glasses online.

How to Measure Your Frame Size

  • Lens Width

Measured horizontally from one edge of the lens to the other. The wider the lens, the larger the overall frame size.

  • Bridge Width

This measures the distance between the two lenses. Choosing the right bridge width ensures your glasses sit comfortably on your nose without slipping or pinching.

  • Temple Length

Measured from the frame front to the end of the temple arm (not following the curve). Most people wear temples around 138–140 mm, but it can vary depending on head size and fit.

A frame that doesn’t fit properly can cause discomfort, imbalance, and even affect your appearance. Understanding how to read the numbers on your frame makes choosing the right glasses easier and ensures a comfortable, confident fit every time.If you’re unsure, visit Monde Eyewear — our professionals can help you find and adjust your frames for the perfect fit and clear vision.
